“The machine is man’s equivalent”

This is my favorite quote from the excerpt, not only because it’s a statement from Baudrillard that’s put quite concise and rather simplistic but because I do find truth in it. We as a human race are in a constant race to become more efficient. One of our answers to proficient efficiency is to create something that completes a task better and faster than us. Robots or machines that are created out of our own needs and aspirations are simply extensions of these needs. As he states, we connect our success with its operational success. They help us extend our curiosity, send people out of our planet and break the barriers of sole human potential. As we get smarter and smarter so does the machine, a parallel relationship in exponential growth as long as we don’t turn the relationship towards destruction.
